Day Sixteen

Today was a great day. Elijah napped in the morning dive with grandpa and he seemed happy and refreshed and ready to work afterwards…Elijah that is, maybe not grandpa. Ha! J
Day Sixteen - 3-25-09

Elijah's PT set up an obstacle coarse and he spent a lot of time just walking around trying to maneuver over and around objects. He did great. He hardly fell down at all. He's falling much less than he did when we first got here.

The therapists were probably sick of hearing me talking about it, but I kept saying that I felt like something changed in Elijah yesterday. Ever since, he just seems to be a bit different to me. Like something new clicked in his brain. Like he's seeing better, looking up more, keeping his hands more open. I don't know, he just seems a little different – and I can't exactly put my finger on it. It's like he has brighter eyes again.

Today Elijah was playing with a toy quite efficiently with BOTH of his hands, which is pretty exciting. It was a steering wheel and he was using both of his hands to play with it. I feel some changes a brewin'.

Good Morning EJ,
Maybe you can help me out here. I see that Grandpa Dennis has been spending a lot of time in the ol' HBOT Chamber recently. Have you noticed any improvements in his behavior or abilities like they are always observing about you? Is it possible that he's signed up for one of the Robert Redford or Harrison Ford lookalike treatments. If that's the case, I would really like the inside story on how you think it's working. I'm still interested after seeing what that John Denver lookalike treatment has done for you.

I won't see you this Sabbath because I will be in Milwaukee speaking. The subject involves a top that I designed and built quite a while ago that will spin for up to 26 minutes. When you're a little older I will show you how it works and let you try it out. Someone made me a similar top when I was about 11 or 12 and I used to be able to get that one to spin for 5 minutes and that was my first goal with this one. Guess what? Firts prototype spun for 2 minutes and I was rather bummed. But the race was on, so to speak, and I kept studying and making improvements and refinements until it finally broke the 25 minute mark. Was going to go for 30 minutes but other things demanded my time and I didn't get back to it. I still enjoy doing things like that so maybe one day I'll get the time to resume the challenge. Keep up the good work and the good attitude my little friend.
Love ya! Jim
